Overview
‘Koh Tao’ or turtle island has been a top destination in Thailand for scuba divers and visitors for many years for a reason. Its perfect white-sand beaches that wrapped around 21 sq.km. of a hilly island surrounded by the clear and warm water which is absolutely perfect for snorkeling and diving. Just a little bit of swimming from the shore and you will be able to see many vibrant coral reefs under the water, a home to an exciting marine life including a wide range of sea creatures, various species of fish, and of course, turtles!
Koh Tao is definitely one of those islands that is beautiful both above and below the water. Apart from snorkeling or diving in the crystal clear water, Koh Tao is also becoming more and more popular for hiking and rock climbing where people can hike through the tropical greenery to see an amazing panoramic view of the island. The island is quite a compact size and less developed when compared to Koh Samui or Koh Phangan, but with the increase in popularity many nice restaurants, bars, and resorts, or even nightlife scenes are constantly growing.
Neighboring Koh Tao by just a 15-20 minutes boat ride, you will find Koh Nang Yuan, a small cluster of 3 islands that are connected together by 2 white-sand strips with its postcard worthy view. The island is surrounded by gorgeous corals and many sea life where you can snorkel, dive, hike, swim in its pristine water, or simply just relax on the beach and enjoy the sunbathing.
